A Close Look At The Beautiful Life Of Michelle Pfeiffer

Onwards And Upwards

Grease 2 may not have been the best movie of all time, but Pfeiffer was nominated for the Young Artist Award in the Best Young Motion Picture Actress and even more importantly, it brought her to the attention of the esteemed director Brian De Palma.

This in turn, brought her a role in the now-classic movie Scarface. This was the first major critical success of her career, with Time magazine giving her major plaudits, saying: “most of the large cast is fine: Michelle Pfeiffer is better …” while Vanity Fair picked her out as the next potential superstar of the big screen, writing: “she is hot.”

Cementing Her Grip On Things

Scarface didn’t lead to instant superstardom for Michelle Pfeiffer. She would go on to play Diana in Into the Night, a John Landis comedy, which didn’t quite hit the right tone with the critics or audiences.

Then she starred in the fantasy classic Ladyhawke as the lead Isabeau D’Anjou, but the limited audience for fantasy films meant it too was only a minor success at the box office. Roles in Sweet Liberty and Amazon Women on the Moon fared no better, but her biggest break to date was just around the corner. 1987 was to be her big year.
