After George Reeve’s performance in 1939’s Gone With The Wind, he appeared in store for a bright and successful acting career. Not long after, he accepted the lead role on the TV series The Adventures of Superman. However, he agreed under the condition that he wouldn’t have to play the Superman’s timid alter-ego Clark Kent and that the show would have adult concepts.
At first, the studio agreed until they realized that the show was attracting a younger demographic. They then changed the show’s concept to the dismay of Reeves. He made it clear to others that he was unsatisfied with the role claiming it had ruined his career. In 1959, he was found dead with a gunshot wound to the head.
Not everyone loves Star Wars as much as we do as you’ll soon discover.
