Helen Noel’s last name is French for Christmas. Dr. Noel met Captain Kirk at a Christmas party — was that a coincidence or fate? After her role on Star Trek as Dr. Helen Noel, Marianna Hill went on to have a very successful acting career appearing in a whopping 70 films and television episodes. She was most known for her starring role in High Plains Drifter, a Western film from 1973. She also guest starred on sitcoms and films including Bonanza, Hogan’s Heroes, Gunsmoke, Wild, Wild West, and Mission: Impossible.
Hill was known for playing a wide range of roles with different accents. Although she was born in Santa Barbara, California, her family often moved around. She lived in Canada, Spain, and Great Britain before settling down. This led her to be selected for roles with different accents, including playing women who were German, Irish, Hawaiian, Greek, and French. She officially retired in 2005, but in 2012, she posed for a fan in the above picture.
