Cardi B Thinks She Cleared A Path For Female Rappers
When Cardi B exploded onto the music scene, things changed forever for female rap music. Now, she's wants credit where credit is due. She made some controversial comments on the "Rap Radar Podcast" on October 21st.
"I feel like after me it's easier for a lot of female rappers. Before me, there was no female rapper that was signed to a label. Well, you know, the ones that had been established," said Cardi. "Nobody was signing them. Now, everybody's just signing them, if you can rap and you got a couple of followers."
After the interview aired, she received some backlash and responded on Twitter.
"I didn't say I pave the way for female rappers but I deff gave the hood and women hope. N----- wasn’t collabing with females rappers," wrote Cardi on Twitter. "Labels were signing female rappers and putting them on a shelf and not focusing on them. Not giving them proper attention."
Rapper T.I. was also a guest on the same podcast and agreed with what Cardi was saying.
"I think she kind of kicked the doors down with being personable. Most women when they came out were extremely mysterious, you hardly heard them talk," said T.I.
We're sure it won't take long before someone, a.k.a. Nicki Minaj, responds to these claims with some sort of diss track.
