‘Daredevil’ Star Charlie Cox Might Be Returning As Matt Murdock In ‘Spider-Man 3’
The MCU universe may soon be the home to Daredevil TV star Charlie Cox. Reports are circulating that Cox is preparing to move from the small screen to the big screen as Matt Murdock, the star of the short-lived Daredevil series that streamed on Netflix.
With Avengers: Endgame bringing to an end a saga that earned Disney and Marvel Studios billions of dollars, it's no surprise Marvel is attempting to make a huge splash with Spider-Man 3.
We already know that Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange is appearing in the film with some people speculating that it could mean a live-action Spider-Verse is on the way. Rumored to be appearing in Spider-Man 3 are former Spider-Man actors Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield along with co-stars Kirsten Dunst, Emma Stone, and Alfred Molina.
Charlie Cox's character has no former connection to the MCU franchise but he did play the popular DC Daredevil character for three seasons on Netflix. He also kept his role alive in the very short-lived series The Defenders.
There was originally hope that Cox would show up in the Avenger's universe but his Netflix deal featured a non-compete clause that kept him away from any non-Netflix series for a period of two years after Daredevil was canceled. Nothing is confirmed at this time but we're holding out home for a major spectacle, and hopefully a Spider-Verse live-action movie.
