Deleted Movie Scenes That Should Have Made The Final Cut
Even if a scene is in the movie script, it doesn't mean it will make it to the final cut. Sadly, a lot of great scenes get axed, such as Aunt Petunia talking to Harry before she leaves her home in Deathly Hallows - Part 1.
Like that encounter, these upcoming deleted scenes should have made the final cut.
Cap Getting Used To The Modern World In The Avengers
The first time people see Steve Roger's after he is pulled out of the ice is in The Avengers. Sadly, a lot of Chris Evans's scenes were deleted.
It would have been cool to see the 1940s hero navigating through the modern world as he searched for Peggy, got used to technology, and saw how much New York had changed.
Miranda Whispering "Thank You" In The Devil Wears Prada
Fans might think of Miranda as a villain in The Devil Wears Prada, but they might have thought a bit better of her had this one scene not been deleted. In it, Miranda's husband is drunk and sticking his foot in his mouth during a black-tie event.
Andy goes and distracts partygoers, adverting their attention from the scene. Miranda then goes and whispers "thank you" to her assistant, showing she does have some humanity in her.
Quint Obnoxiously Humming "Ode To Joy" In Jaws
Quint gets very little introduction in Jaws, giving him a strange, mysterious presence throughout the film. Well, there is one scene that very accurately showcases his quirky personality. Unfortunately, it was cut from the final film.
In the scene, Quint goes into a music store to buy piano wire. While there, a kid is playing "Ode to Joy" on a clarinet. Quint starts obnoxiously humming along to the tune to "show" the kid the correct notes he fumbled over.
"Demon in a Bottle" Iron Man In Iron Man 2
In the comic books, Tony Stark has a dark side that is explored, something that is left out of the MCU. Well, kind of left out. A scene alluding to the "Demon in a Bottle" Iron Man was actually deleted from the opening sequence of Iron Man 2.
In the opening, viewers can hear Tony moaning, as if he is being tortured. He's actually just throwing up after a bender.
The Father And Sons Dynamic In The Two Towers
In Lord of the Rings The Two Towers, fans get a flashback scene to Boromir, who had died in Fellowship. In the scene, he is with his father, Denethor, and younger brother, Faramir.
The scene shows the dynamic in the family-- how Denethor clearly favors Boromir and how Boromir is nothing more than a loving older brother who has to do what his father tells him. Too bad the scene was deleted, and fans only get part of the dynamic in Return of the King.
The Limo Driver In This Is Spinal Tap
Before scenes were cut, This Is Spinal Tap ran for a solid 270 minutes. By the time it was released, it was 84 minutes.
One of the deleted scenes gives Bruno Kirby's limo driver a lot more screen time and shows Spinal Tap at their worst, totally bullying the man and being egotistical rockstars.
The Tech Genius Cracking The Code In Independence Day
The big plot hole of how David Levinson was able to infect an alien computer with a virus in Independence Day would have been answered with this deleted scene.
In the scene, Levinson's technology genius of a friend is seen cracking the alien computer code, allowing him to make the virus.
The Graduation In Heaven's Gate
The 1980 film Heaven's Gate was re-edited after getting ripped apart by critics. One of the deleted scenes just so happened to be at the very beginning -- the Harvard graduation of Jim Averill and Billy Irvine.
It was a lengthy prologue that shouldn't have been cut solely because of how it went with the film's epilogue. The cut prologue was based years before the film's events, while the epilogue was years after.
Scotty's Emotions In Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan
In Star Trek, the "red shirts" died so often it was pretty much expected. The thing is, none of the main crew and characters showed much emotion afterward.
One deleted scene in Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan does show Scotty getting emotional after one horrible attack on the Enterprise. It would have been a nice addition to the film.
A Father-Daughter Talk In Avengers: Infinity War
It's no secret that Thanos and Gamora have a strained father and daughter relationship (he literally pushes her off a mountain). Though, one scene in Avengers: Infinity War dove into their complex history as adults.
Sadly, the scene was deleted in post-production. It should have been added, as it would have shown the history of their strained relationship and how it got so bad.
Yoda Revealing A Secret In Return Of The Jedi
One of the biggest questions for Star Wars fans was why Obi-Wan decided not to tell Luke that Darth Vader was his father. As it turns out, the answer to that question was answered and then deleted from Return of the Jedi.
In the scene, Yoda reveals to Luke that he made Obi-Wan promise not to tell him!
Superman In Space In Superman Returns
One of the biggest issues in Superman Returns is the fact that viewers have to theorize Superman flying through space, trying to find Krypton. The film's plot literally revolves around that fact.
Amazingly, the scene of his flying around had been shot. It was just deleted in post-production because who wants to watch a quiet space scene for a few minutes straight?
Rob Low-Ball Negotiating For Vinyls In High Fidelity
While this scene wasn't necessarily a make-or-break part of High Fidelity, it would have shown how Rob is a man of principles. In the deleted scene, Rob is offered a low $50 for a marvelous vinyl collection. It was worth much more, and he knew that.
The lady offering, though, did not care, as the profit was going to her unfaithful husband. She would have given it away for free!
Aunt Petunia And Harry In Harry Potter
In the Harry Potter films, especially the first few, Aunt Petunia is portrayed as a cruel aunt who really does not care for her nephew, Harry. As it turns out, she does have some humanity; it was just deleted from Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 1.
In the scene, Harry is getting his aunt, uncle, and cousin out of the house and winds up having a conversation with Petunia where she explains how Harry didn't just lose a mother; she lost a sister.
Cady And Regina Making Up In Mean Girls
After Regina is hit by the bus in Mean Girls, more than one person thought there'd be retaliation by Queen Bee Regina. Flash forward to the final dance, and it seems as though nothing happened between the two.
Well, that's because a scene got deleted, showing the two girls making up before the spring fling. That would have been some nice information.
The Giants Dreams In The Iron Giant
The animated film The Iron Giant is an emotional rollercoaster that has people rooting for a skyscraper-tall giant how enjoys comic books. People became invested with the character, making it sad that the studio decided to delete this particular scene.
In the scene, the Giant is sleeping, and the film goes into his dreams, showing what he is thinking!
Bill Fighting In Kill Bill: Vol. 2
Bill isn't really the main character in Kill Bill, even though he is the entire reason for The Bride's revenge. Viewers see him for a bit of time in Vol. 2, but had this scene not been deleted, it would have shown how much of a threat Bill is.
In the scene, Bill shows off his martial arts skills in an epic fight with a vengeful man that would have been a great addition to the action flick.
Scar Hitting On Nala In The Lion King
One scene that isn't shown in The Lion King is the reason why Nala left Pride Rock. Well, Disney did have a plotline explaining her reasoning, backtracking and deleting it after remembering it was a kid's movie.
In the deleted scene, Scar tries to persuade Nala to be his mate. All the talk of mating and having heirs was a bit much, so they deleted the scene.
Charles Using His Powers Against Erik In First Class
Sadly, a hilarious scene was deleted from X-Men: First Class. In the scene, Charles and Erik are recruiting members for their mutant school.
During the process, the typically-in-control Charles decides to use his powers on Erik, mentally dressing him in woman's clothing while the interviews are happening. Honestly, they should have left it in!
The Jitterbug In The Wizard Of Oz
When Dorothy first arrives in Oz, there are a lot of dance numbers. One was deleted in post-production, though: The Jitterbug dance sequence. Truthfully, the dance wouldn't have brought anything to the film.
It's the fact that the entire scene cost a whopping $80,000 and took five weeks to film! It was cut to decrease The Wizard of Oz's runtime.
Seven Minutes Of "Stairway To Heaven" In Almost Famous
A deleted scene in Almost Famous had William Miller trying to convince his mother to let him write for Rolling Stones magazine. The original scene had Miller playing all seven minutes of Led Zepplin's "Stairway to Heaven," watching as his mother slowly but surely comes around.
Sadly, the movie didn't get the rights to use to song from the band, so they had to cut the entire scene.
Ripley Having A Daughter In Alien
One deleted scene in Alien would have added a whole lot of character development to Ripley. In the scene, it is revealed that she had a daughter who passed away while Ripley was in hypersleep.
This bit of information would have explained a whole lot, such as her maternal nature towards Newt.
Frigga Giving Loki The Throne In Thor
Loki is seemingly given the throne of Asgard in Thor, while the title character is banished to Earth and Odin falls into Odinsleep. While it seems as though Loki kind of just takes the throne, that's not what a deleted scene shows.
In the cut scene, Frigga is shown telling Loki he is now on the throne since he is next in line. The whole "I'm just taking what is rightfully mine" speech makes a whole lot of sense with that scene!
Wolverine's Superhero Suit In The Wolverine
Wolverine never donning his comic book super suit in the X-Men films has been a major letdown for fans. The thing is, the alternative ending for The Wolverine actually showcases the suit-- it's a gift to Logan after his time in Japan.
Had this deleted-alternative ending been the actual final scene of the film, it would have had Logan in the Wolverine costume in the final film. Alas, it never happened.
Unicorn Daydreams in Blade Runner
Some fans of the film Blade Runner were confused about the origami unicorn left by Gaff. As it turns out, that bit of information makes a whole lot more sense if a specific scene hadn't been cut in post-production.
In the scene, Rick Deckard is literally daydreaming about unicorns, hinting that Gaff knows about the implants.
The Arguing Between Natalie And Dan In Mrs. Doubtfire
Mrs. Doubtfire is a funny movie with Robin Williams doing his comedic thing. While it's hard to look past the actor's antics, the film is about a broken home with the mother and father splitting.
In a deleted scene, it shows how bad the household really got, with Natalie and Dan constantly fighting. It would have been a good addition, showing why Dan really got kicked out.
Naomi Discussing Joel In Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind
In Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, poor Joel can't seem to get a break with his relationships, first getting dumped by Naomi and then Clementine who, ultimately, erases her mind to forget about him!
Well, a scene with Naomi discussing her relationship with Joel, and how he was as a boyfriend, was deleted from the film. It would have given some great insight as Joel as a character from another character's perspective.
Elsa Turning Evil In Frozen
The Disney film Frozen revolves around the love of two sisters. Amazingly, that wasn't really the entire concept when the film was first being put together. In one scene, Elsa is seen using her ice queen powers to torture some of the palace guards.
Thinking it was too dark for the film, the scene was cut.
Edward Being Stabbed In The Eye In Divergent
The thing is, Edward is 100 percent stabbed in the eye with a butter knife in the book Divergent. And while the scene was filmed for the movie, it did not make it to the final cut.
The studio thought the scene was too graphic to show for a PG-13 film catering toward a young adult audience.
The Chicken In The Tunnel Scene Of Willy Wonka
One of the more terrifying scenes in a child movie is the tunnel scene in Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory. And, to make matters worse, the original scene was even creepier.
In the scene, a chicken actually gets decapitated! While it would have given the scene more of a "spook" factor, parents are probably happy that scene was ultimately deleted.
