During the 1960s, Peter O’Toole was no stranger to causing trouble and drinking heavily. So, during his breakthrough performance in the film Lawrence of Arabia, it isn’t a shock that he may have been under the influence during filming at times. In particular, during the big camel riding scene, O’Toole admitted that he and his co-star Omar Sharif got so drunk before the scene that he had no idea what was going on or what he was doing. Also, while filming The Lion in Winter, O’Toole supposedly accidentally cut the top off one of his fingers and was so inebriated that he ended up putting it back on the wrong way, only to discover weeks later after removing his bandages.
