In the 1942 musical comedy Holiday Inn, Fred Astaire’s drinking habits can be summed up in one scene. As it turns out, the scene in which he had to act out a supposedly drunk dancing scene, didn’t involve much acting. According to his daughter, he took two shots of bourbon for the first take, and one for every take after that. The take that’s in the film is the seventh take, so he took eight shots of bourbon in total while filming that scene and the outcome is very clear if you’ve ever seen the movie.
