Nobody blames the person who leaves a bowl of candy out for the neighborhood kids instead of sitting at home waiting to answer the door. A lot of people have plans on Halloween whether they're taking their own kids trick or treating or attending a festive party. Although it's common courtesy to only take one piece of candy, some people choose to leave signs as a reminder to all those tricksters out there. Some of these people are more clever than leaving a "please take one" sign...
If You Say So!
Instead of a creepy or threatening sign, these residents decided to take the more light-hearted approach to the holiday. If you've ever seen Parks and Recreation, you know just how funny the show is, especially Tom who loves to "treat himself" probably more often than he should!
Let's just hope kids don't see this as an invitation to empty the entire bowl into their bag. Because we know that's definitely something Tom might do!
A Little Morose
Yes, Halloween is a spooky holiday with all of its ghosts and ghouls and whatnot, but you might not want to bring up the concept of death to little kids trick or treating. It's important to remember that most kids going door-to-door are children dressed up like princesses or their cartoon characters.
Imagine them walking up to a door looking for some candy and seeing this. It might be a tad bit morose. But hey, it will probably keep them off your doorstep next year!
That's One Way To Do It
If you're someone that can't stand being constantly interrupted on Halloween to get up and hand out candy, this might be the sign for you. All you have to do is let kids know which houses have the good candy and you'll most likely have a peaceful evening.
Your neighbors probably won't appreciate it very much and might get revenge on you the next year though! Or, you could leave candy like a normal person. The decision is yours!
Hit Them Where It Hurts
The last thing a die-hard sports fan wants to see is a sign making fun of their losing team while they're taking their kid trick or treating. They're probably already down on themselves, so this is just salt in an open wound.
We wonder if this person saw that their neighbor was in Dallas Cowboy's costume because if so, this is just brutal. The world of sports is an unforgiving place, apparently, even on Halloween.
Don't Mind If I Do
Now some people might be a little disappointed upon seeing this sign, but if you know a pickle lover, they'll have a different reaction. Some people would much rather crunch down on a nice pickle than a piece of candy any day, we just doubt that's the case with little kids.
We're also not sure how many people would be willing to stick their hand in an open pickle jar since kids' hands aren't known to be the cleanest.
Even On Halloween!
If there's one fool-proof way to keep a child from breaking the rules, it's striking the fear of God into them. This person was kind enough to let each child have not just one, but two pieces of candy, but warned them what would happen otherwise.
You know a few kids did a double-take at the sky before contemplating if they should take more than two. We don't think too many kids will break the rules, there's a lot of Almond Joys in that bucket.
Someone Shouldn't Have Children...
If you're this adamant about not handing out candy of Halloween to innocent children, you might want to re-evaluate some things. It's one thing to chose to not give out candy, but it's another to literally threaten trick or treaters with the possibility of being attacked by an evil clown.
But then again, this looks to be the handiwork of someone younger, as we doubt any sane adult would spend the time or energy to make something like this.
Not The Cat Puns
Well, it looks like we found out who the crazy cat lady in the neighborhood is. We're just happy they left their bowl out with a sign instead of opening their door and subjecting children to the cat costume their most likely wearing.
It's a shame that most of the kids who read this sign probably didn't even get it. Either that or their parents don't let them near the crazy cat lady's house anyway.
No What?
We're just going to go ahead and say that any person who can't spell candy or spells it as wrong as this probably shouldn't be allowed to hand it out in the first place.
We seriously hope this was the work of a child because if not, somebody might want to go over there to make sure that everybody's alright. It might even be a good idea to leave a few books on their doorstep.
That's More Than Enough Warning For Us
When it comes to Halloween, you might want to be more wary than usual if someone threatens to curse you. Have you never seen a Halloween movie?
Because if not, it seems like it's the perfect holiday for people to cast spells on one another and they're more than likely to work! Trust us, it's not worth it for an extra piece of candy. If we came upon this, we might just skip over the house altogether!
This One Is For The Anime Lovers
If you're not a fan of the anime show Naruto or any anime shows at all, this sign might as well just say no candy. If you're a fan of the show, you'll know that there's an underlying joke for the fans.
We really hope that someone dressed up as Naruto encountered this sign. Although they may be disappointed by the lack of candy, they'll be happy to know there's another Naruto fan in the neighborhood.
You've Been Warned!
Anything involving trap doors should be enough to keep little kids far away. They've all seen Harry Potter, and there's never anything good beneath a trap door. It's a shame that these people had to scare little kids away instead of putting up a "no candy" sign like a civilized person.
However, knowing kids, some might have given into temptation and pushed the doorbell just to see what might happen. Congratulations, you played yourself.
They Have A Point
Let's be honest, trick or treaters are just a bunch of moochers expecting that people went out of their way to buy them candy with their own money.
Those giant bags of candy aren't exactly on the cheap side either and can be the difference between that night's dinner and going hungry for some people. Imagine being a college student living in a residential neighborhood. Do you think they have $10 to spend on candy for Halloween?
Turn Around And Run
We all have that one neighbor who is questionable, to say the least. They probably rarely leave their house, mow their lawn multiple times a day, and definitely aren't a fan of children.
If you see this sign posted on that neighbor's house on Halloween, your best bet is to cut your losses and move on, probably to an entirely different neighborhood, maybe a different state. In fact, you might want to stay far away from this house at all times of the year.
*Looks Over Shoulder
Imagine walking up to a door ready to receive some candy only to be confronted with this. Considering that it's Halloween, most people might look over their shoulder to make sure that there someone isn't actually sneaking up on them to give them a scare.
To us, we actually think this would be pretty funny for someone to do and would certainly make it a memorable house to trick or treat at. We tip our hat to the people who make Halloween interesting for trick or treaters.
Be On Your Best Behavior!
Anyone that's heard the story of Hansel and Gretel knows that being baked into a pie by witches isn't the most enjoyable experience, especially for children. So, the threat of being baked into one is most likely going to keep them on their best behavior.
This sign might be a bit on the macabre side, but there's little doubt that it's effective. We wonder how many children pushed their luck and were never seen again.
Just What I Was Looking For
It only seems appropriate that sacrificial tables and Halloween would go hand in hand. However, while this sign might be helpful for those looking for one, others might take it as a warning that someone doesn't want trick or treaters at their doorstep.
Those who ignore the sign might accidentally find themselves as the person on the sacrificial table. Mark that down as the worst Halloween experience ever. Note to self: don't ever follow a sign leading to a sacrifice of any kind.
The Best House In The Neighborhood
Judging by the size of that bucket and the amount of candy, we're willing to bet that this is the house all the kids make sure to stop by every year. They don't even have to knock on the door and go through all the trick or treat formalities.
They can just stick a hand in this massive bucket and take their fill. However, we're also guessing that the majority of all that candy is from last Halloween.
Please, No
Halloween is creepy enough without having to be confronted by a pumpkin in the likeness of Miley Cyrus with a corresponding sign that says "twerk or treat." This is truly the stuff of nightmares that makes witches, werewolves, and ghosts look completely innocent.
We genuinely feel for any children that had to see this when all they were looking for was a piece of candy. All that we hope was this was kept inside, far away from the public eye.
This Is Just Wrong
Here, we have a retirement home that decided to decorate for Halloween. However, when they could have done typical decorations such as jack-o'-lanterns and "Happy Halloween" signs, they opted for something much more sinister. Instead, they transformed an entire wall to look like a cemetery surrounded by skulls and other images of death.
Whoever thought this was a good idea has something wrong with them, as the last thing the elderly need in a retirement home is a constant reminder of death.
Probably Not Fans Of The Holiday
By the looks of this sign, the people who reside in this house aren't huge fans of Halloween. We're not sure if they made and posted this sign to let the world know, or as an attempt to ward of trick or treaters.
Typically, ultra-religious people tend to look down on Halloween because it goes against a lot of fundamental beliefs. Although this isn't always the case, it seems that it is here. Don't go looking for candy at this house!
Very Festive
It's clear that this professor is absolutely pumped Halloween, can't you tell by their enthusiasm? We're going to guess that one of their students commented on the lack of decorations in their office, and this was their response.
Now, nobody can't say that they didn't put up any decorations for Halloween. Yes, it might be a bit bland, but let's be honest, the majority of Halloween decorations just say "Boo!" too, they're just more festive is all.

When everyone in the neighborhood is decorating for any kind of holiday, nobody wants to be that person who isn't putting in any effort at all. That seems to be the case for the people who live in this house.
So nobody can say they didn't do anything, they put a single plastic tombstone outside of their door. Festive enough right? Yet, judging by the look of their lawn, it's possible that's an actual gravesite.
Hope They Didn't Buy Candy
While decorating your house for Halloween can encourage trick or treaters to come knocking at your door, this might be a little over-the-top. This house actually looks like a scene out of a horror movie, and most sensible children would steer clear of it if they saw it.
We feel for anyone that lives in the neighborhood and has to see this during the entire spooky season. Still, we commend their dedication to the holiday.
Combining Holidays
Looks like this house prefers to combine their holidays to make them that much more fun. Why celebrate Halloween when you can do the Fourth of July at the same time? Although it may be a little unusual, there certainly aren't any rules against it.
Or, who's to say that the skeletons aren't dressed up as United States citizens celebrating the birth of the nation? You can really get away with anything during Halloween if you want to.
Points For Creativity
People tend to forget that you don't always have to go to the store and buy expensive decorations during the holiday season. These people worked with what they had, and the result is something incredibly unique that still manages to be frightening.
Even without the legs, this decoration would be effective, but they are a nice touch. We can only imagine how they decorate their house for every other holiday. We're sure that tree is put to good use!

If you've ever seen the AMC show The Walking Dead or read the comic book, you'll know that they refer to the zombies as "walkers." It looks like these people took that idea and put their own spin on it, and it's hilarious.
Instead, they're referring to actual walkers that some people need to help them get around. In the end, this might be scarier to most adults than actual zombies, as it reminds us that one day we might need to use one.
We Come In Pieces
Although this might not technically classify as Halloween decoration to most people, we have to appreciate this house's creativity and dedication. But then again, who's to say what constitutes a real Halloween decoration.
People dress up as aliens for the holiday all of the time, and we'd say that aliens are just as creepy as ghosts! If there's ever a national alien holiday ever established, these people are already ten steps ahead of everyone else!
Highly Questionable
We get the joke, but did it really have to be about kids? Now, it just looks like someone did a bad job of burying their kids in the front yard. You know someone's dad did this and laughed to themselves while drinking a beer after their masterpiece was complete.
We're also sure that none of the kids were too happy to see that their clothes were being used for decorations dressed as themselves outside.
You're Overdoing It
Good luck to anyone that tries to get through this mess for a piece of candy. Although there's nothing wrong with decorating your house or even making them look scary, this might be over the line.
We can't even tell what's going on here, but it looks like someone decorated this house in the pitch black of night with no idea what they were doing. If their goal was to scare people away, they surely succeeded.
Beware Of The Real Threat
If there's anything more terrifying than ghouls, ghosts, zombies, and skeletons, it's sharks-- something this house understands. It's either that or their kids forget to put away their pool toys.
If you really want to strike fear into the hearts of trick or treaters and others during Halloween, all you have to do is put an inflatable shark on your front lawn. You can tell they tried to make their yard even scarier by adding spiderwebs, but those are nothing compared to the ferocious shark.
Came In Like A Wrecking Ball
We're not sure why anyone would associate Halloween with Miley Cyrus, but it might be because of how scary she was in a few of her music videos. That seems to be the inspiration behind this makeshift decoration, which features a skeleton in the likeness of Cyrus swinging on an exercise ball in place of a wrecking ball.
This is a reference to her music video to the song "Wrecking Ball" which was concerning to a lot of people. Turning her into a skeleton just makes it worse.
Make Use With What You Have
Surely, for the rest of the year, this family of bunnies looks adorable outside of this house. Yet, when Halloween comes around, they turn into little monsters with a taste for human flesh.
This is an incredibly effective decoration, mostly because it probably only cost a few dollars for the severed hand, and they used things that they already had. We can't tell if the mother in the back is disappointed by her babies or proud, making it all the creepier.
A Grammar Snob's Nightmare
While this might be scary to most people because of the tombstone, skeletons, and spiderwebs, to someone who deeply cares about grammar, it's truly frightening. Most people who are self-proclaimed grammar snobs would rather face-off against a Halloween creature any day than come face-to-face with the wrong form of "your."
We'd be incredibly surprised if someone didn't come knocking on this person's door to inform them that they're missing an apostrophe and an "e" on their decoration.
RIP To The Past
If you're going to set up a cemetery in your yard as a decoration, you might as well fill it with things that people can relate to. These people decided to do just that but with companies, icons, and fads that have since become deceased.
This is hilarious, except we would have expected a tombstone for Blockbuster Video to be front and center, and right next to that, the Friday nights of our childhood.
Stretch Those Bones
Halloween decorations don't always have to be scary; sometimes, the funny ones get the job done just fine. That's precisely the case with these skeleton yogis. Whoever created these are keeping with the tradition of Halloween, while simultaneously making it tasteful.
We'd also call this decoration rather contemporary with the yoga becoming increasingly popular amongst young people. What would really put this scene over the top is if the skeletons had air pods, iPhones, and Hydro Flasks on their mats.
Keep Your Windows Locked
This looks like the scene out of Jason and the Argonauts or Spy Kids 2 when the skeletons come to life, something nobody ever wants to encounter themselves. However, instead of attacking people with swords, these are helping each other onto someone's roof in an attempt to get into their house.
Fake, stagnant skeletons aren't terribly frightening, but to make them look like they're in motion like this is sure to get under people's skin.
The Popcorn's Ready!
We doubt that whosoever decoration this is were trying to make it look like their cauldron was overflowing with popcorn, but that's certainly what it looks like. It's a shame because it looks like they put in a lot of effort to complete this decoration.
Hopefully, they're able to remove what looks like popcorn and put in something that's more appropriate. Otherwise, they might have a crowd of kids on Halloween trying to grab a piece of it.
They Win!
Well, this is quite the hodgepodge of decorations. They have hanging ghosts, ghouls, jack-o'-lanterns, oh yeah, and life-sized Transformers. This house definitely takes the cake for the most over-the-top decorations on the block.
There's even a little boy staring in awe, having his dream fulfilled of meeting real-life Transformers. As cool as these are, the real question is, where do they store them for the other eleven months of the year? Or do they keep them out at all times?
Well This Is Concerning
Anyone who grew up celebrating Halloween has heard that rumor that some people put razor blades or other sharp objects in the candy they give out. Since nobody ever knows anyone this has happened to, we assume it was a lie created by parents to scare their kids or people like this.
This sign has undoubtedly gone way too far, especially since it's mostly little kids coming to look for candy. We wouldn't be surprised if they woke up to a police officer knocking on their door.
