A History Of Iconic Women: Here Are 60 Years Of Lady Legends
A First For A Foreign Actress
Sophia Loren was the first actress to win an Academy Award for Best Actress in 1962 and the first actress to win an Oscar for a foreign-language performance. Fun fact: Loren and Cary Grant had an alleged affair in 1958 when they were both playing roles in the film Houseboat. Betsy Drake, Grant’s wife, wrote the script for the film and was originally supposed to star alongside Grant, instead of Loren.
