In 2006, she was one of 25 Black women saluted at Oprah’s Legends Ball, a celebration honoring African American contributions to American culture. In 2016, she was one of the 21 recipients of the Presidential Medal of Freedom. Ross has five children, is 72 years old, and lives in her hometown of Detroit, Michigan.
