Marvel’s Endgame Is Extremely Close To Becoming The Number One Box Office Film
Ultimate box office glory is on the line for Marvel and Avengers: Endgame. All it will take is for everything to go as according as planned, and by the looks of it, that will happen.
Over the weekend of July 13-14, the Avengers film reached $2.780 billion. Now, Endgame is only $7.16 million away from surpassing Avatar as the highest-grossing film of all-time ($2.787 billion). 2018's Infinity War opened in April and stayed in theaters through the first two weeks of Septemeber. Analysts say Endgame will wait around until at least Labor Day. That gives Marvel plenty of time to become number one.
Since 2008, Marvel Studios' run at the box office has become one of the most significant feats by a studio ever. They've grossed more than $22.2 billion globally since then. With the success of 2018's Black Panther and 2019's Captain Marvel, Marvel showed the world you could be successful with diversity in Hollywood, an entity which usually lacks that. Those films have opened the door for the future Marvel characters such as the upcoming Shang-Chi, slated to become the first character representing the LGBTQ community.
If there's one thing we can all agree upon its that Kevin Feige and the rest of the folks at the Marvel studio know how to promote and roll out their content. As fans enjoy some of their favorite superheroes, people behind the scenes are figuring out ways to make sure we continue to watch their films. They will get a boost come July 18, 2019, when a particular event starts.
Starting on that date, San Diego's Comic-Con gets underway and lasts until July 21, 2019. Not only will Marvel show us some of the stuff they've been working on and what they have planned for the future, they'll get to promote Endgame a tad bit more but on a larger scale. Is it safe to say that the leader of the highest-grossing movie will change soon?
