The internet was rocked in 2013 with the news that famed computer programmer and “hactivist” Aaron Swartz had committed suicide. Swartz, who was only 26 at the time of his death, contributed to the development of such endeavors as RSS format webfeeds, Creative Commons, and the popular social news site Reddit.

His suicide was the result of a federal indictment for computer crimes he’d allegedly committed.
