Brad Davis, the star of Midnight Express, had one hell of a tragic life. He was a victim of physical and sexual abuse at the hands of both parents. He says he turned to acting to channel that pain. He was an admitted alcoholic and drug abuser. Openly bisexual, he contracted AIDS in the 1980s but kept his illness a secret in order to continue working.

During the final stages of AIDS-related illnesses, Davis opted to kill himself. On September 8, 1991, with his wife and a friend present at his hospital bedside, he took an overdose of drugs. He was 41 years old.
