Famous character actor Gig Young mostly played in supporting roles in films such as That Touch of Mink. He won an Oscar for the 1969 movie They Shoot Horses, Don’t They? In 1978, he married a journalist, Kim Schmidt, who was 33 years his junior.

On October 19 of that year, just weeks after they wed, Young killed Schmidt and himself in a murder-suicide.
