The 2013 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show featured the first-ever 3-D printed wings in the show’s history! Modeled by Lindsay Ellingson for the “Snow Angels” segment, the wings included millions of tiny Swarovski crystals and were designed by architect Bradley Rothenberg, who created the wings based on the fractal nature of snowflakes. Rothenberg used a body scan to create a pattern that would fit perfectly around Ellingson’s body shape, telling Wired, “3-D Printing is a perfect technology to incorporate into fashion as the rapid production and versatility of the process perfectly matches the speed of the season-to-season fashion world.”
