Jeff Fender, a Brooklyn-based artist who started out as a costume designer on Broadway, is a frequent collaborator for the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. He shared with Harper’s Bazaar what exactly goes into the design of a costume. After getting an inspired sketch from Victoria’s Secret, Fender says, “I interpret their vision into a design for the fabric… For something like the boho psychedelic costume, that takes about 3-4 weeks to make. It takes a few days to draw the artwork for the pattern.” It took 18 panels of fabric to create this colorful costume worn by model Elsa Hosk in 2015. Speaking of Elsa Hosk, wait until you see the insane costume she wore the following year!
