“Magic” Weight-Loss Compounds

Following the criticism Dr. Oz received over his claims about apple juice, in 2012, Oz introduced the green coffee bean extract bean onto his show. During an episode in 2012, he claimed that “You may think this magic bean is make-believe, but this little bean has scientists saying that they’ve found the magic weight-loss cure for every body type.” This, yet again, raised eyebrows as other physicians stepped forward to denounce the green coffee extract as a hoax. Furthermore, the only scientific study that supported that claim was funded by the companies manufacturer and has been retracted. Oz continued to receive backlash and lost reliability for this claim as well.
