Some believe that a lot of Oz’s questionable medical techniques and false claims are all just part of an act to further the success of his television show, promote his image, and make more money. To most, this isn’t the end of the world since he is a television personality after all. However, most assume that he leaves all of these nonscience-based practices at the door before performing real surgery. Yet, that might not be the case. Oz believes in Reiki which is a pseudoscience and the notion that “universal energy” is transferred through the palms of the practitioner to the patient. Oz has also hired Reiki master Julie Motz to stand in the operating to help Oz and the patients survive a risky surgery. To most people, it sounds like Oz relying more on supernatural powers rather than his medical skills.
