In 1985, Oz married his wife Lisa Lemole. Lisa had come from a medical background as well and her father was one of the surgeons on the medical team that successfully accomplished the first heart transplant in the USA in 1968. The two had been set up by their fathers who felt that they would make an excellent couple. Lisa also had previously written about spiritual studies, was a Reiki master, and had developed her own beliefs about health and energy. Her own background and beliefs would come together with Oz’s to help to further his study of alternative medicine, as well as get him into the public eye.
