The Life And Controversies Of Dr. Oz

The Apple Juice Dilemma

In September 2011, Dr. Oz received harsh criticism after claiming that there were dangerous levels of arsenic in most apple juices. He stated that there were arsenic levels that were above the limit of what the FDA allows in drinking water. The FDA went on to state that “there is currently no to suggest a public health risk” as concerns rose on the issue. As it turns out, Oz had hired an independent toxicology laboratory to run his own personal tests which were reported to come up with test results that were considered “unreliable at best” after it was discovered that his method of testing was for water and not for juice. This was one of the first major controversies that brought Dr. Oz’s teachings and knowledge into question.
