First Lady Michelle Obama Supported Robin Roberts’ Coming Out

Good Morning America host Robin Roberts revealed she was gay in 2013 in an end-of-the-year post on Facebook. She wrote: “I am grateful for my entire family, my long time girlfriend, Amber, and friends as we prepare to celebrate a glorious new year together.” Roberts met the massage therapist through friends over 15 years ago.

In response, former First Lady Michelle Obama tweeted: “I am so happy for you and Amber! You continue to make us all proud.” In 2012, President Barack Obama sat down for an interview with Roberts in which he talked about his support for same-sex marriage.
