The Seahawks should have handed the ball off to Marshawn Lynch in Super Bowl 49. Instead, they passed the ball and lost the game. The decision created friction throughout the team, most notably between Lynch and head coach Pete Carroll.
While not many details went public, the behind the scenes fights were reportedly explosive. Carroll refused to acknowledge the problems, telling the press they were “working on things.” The truth is they were working on forcing Lynch out of town. Lynch responded by retiring, crippling Seattle’s offense the next season.
