These Titles Are Leaving Netflix In September
Here's a friendly reminder for those who live and breathe Netflix: another month means another sweep of the streaming service's catalog. That means a whole lot of favorites are going away, so you better binge-watch them while you still can!
Classics such as Groundhog Day and Clueless are only going to be available for so long, and comedies like Get Him to the Greek and School Daze are about to disappear too. Get ready; here are some titles leaving Netflix in September.
Get Him To The Greek
Starring Jonah Hill and Russell Brand, Get Him to the Greek is a must-see comedy for anyone needing a good laugh in their life. The film follows the wild adventure of Aaron Green and British rock star Aldous Snow. Green wants nothing more than to get the rocker to the Greek Theater in time for a big show.
Of course, nothing goes as planned. But there is a random furry wall involved, so you have that to look forward to.
Groundhog Day
Ever feel like you're living the same day over and over again? Well, for cynical TV weatherman Phil, that is exactly what happens. Groundhog Day follows Phil as he is forced to relive the same day, February 2, over and over.
The kicker? At first, he doesn't care, using the re-do to his advantage. Later, he realizes it's not a blessing but a curse. Don't believe us? You're just going to have to watch the film before it's taken off Netflix in September.
Rugrats Go Wild
Calling all '90s babies! Rugrats Go Wild is on Netflix for a little while longer. It's time to travel back to when there was nothing better than a mashup of two great TV shows... in this case, Rugrats and The Wild Thornberrys.
The premise: after being stranded on some deserted island, the kids of the Rugrats meet up with the kids, and ape, that make up the Thornberry clan. Together, adventure ensues! Of course, there's a hungry leopard that makes adventure hard, but there had to be some type of villain, right?
The Karate Kid Trilogy
Not one, not two, but all three of the Karate Kid films are being removed from the Netflix catalog in September. If you're in the mood for a movie marathon, look no further. Start at the beginning, when Daniel LaRusso was just learning the ways of martial arts from Mr. Miyagi.
Then, move to Part II, when Miyagi takes Daniel to Japan. And last but not least, Part III; the film that brings us back to where it all started, in the championship ring.
V For Vendetta
"Remember, remember, the fifth of November," only pretend it's September in the phrase because that's when V For Vendetta is being taken down from Netflix's streaming platform. The dystopian political action film takes place in the police-state of London after the end of the World War.
A vigilante, only known as V, uses questionable tactics to take down the government. And just when he thinks he's alone in his quest for freedom, he finds an unlikely ally in the form of a young woman, Evey.
Tootsie
Starring Dustin Hoffman, the classic filmTootsie follows the story of Michael Dorsey, an actor who reinvents himself to find work in the big city of New York. So, obviously, he cross-dresses and becomes Dorothy Michael, a persona that winds up winning him a part in a soap opera.
But this movie is a rom-com, so when he falls for his castmate who actually thinks he's a she, things get a bit complicated. Trust us; you're not going to want to miss out on the laughter that will ensue when you watch this film.
He's Just Not That Into You
Featuring an ensemble cast with many storylines, He's Just Not That Into You is the rom-com you're not going to want to miss, as it leaves Netflix net month. There's Janine, who doesn't trust her husband, and for a good reason since he doesn't trust himself around Anna.
Then there's Beth, who wants a relationship with Neil, but he's a bit flippant on the "couple" thing. But the main storyline follows Gigi, who misreads all of her dates and is unable to land a guy. Talk about drama.
Candyman
All horror movie enthusiasts need to watch the 1992 film Candyman before it's removed from Netflix in September. Following the story of Helen Lyle, a graduate student studying Urban Legends, the film goes from spooky to scary once she learns the secrets of the Candyman.
It's said that anyone who speaks his name in a mirror five times will summon the Candyman, which ends with the death of the summoner. Of course, Helen does just this for her graduate thesis. But after she discredits the ghost, he comes back to exact his revenge.
Jerry Maguire
Starring Tom Cruise as the title character, Jerry Maguire is all about redemption. After sending off a company-wide memo that promptly gets him fired, Maguire decides to take his career into his own hands.
So, in order to keep his clients, Maguire decides to open his own firm with the help of one other person -- a single mom. If you like movies about an underdog, you're not going to want to miss this film before Netflix takes it off the streaming platform in September.
Failure To Launch
Starring Matthew McConaughey and Sarah Jessica Parker, Failure to Launch tells the story of Tripp, a grown man who refuses to make moves to leave the security of his parents' house. Insert Paula, a woman who specializes in boosting men's self-confidence in order to get them to "launch."
It's funny, cute, and Kathy Bates is in it, so you know it's obviously going to be great. If you're in the mood for a rom-com, be sure to watch Failure to Launch before it's no longer an option.
Bad Boys
Detectives Marcus Burnett and Mike Lowrey couldn't be more different. One is a ladies man, and the other, a family man. But they put their differences aside when they try to figure out who at their station confiscated $100 million worth of narcotics.
Now, they have five days to figure out the person responsible for the inside job. We highly recommend watching this movie, along with the second and third installments, because all three are getting booted from the platform in September.
Clueless
Don't miss your chance to watch the classic high school film Clueless before Netflix takes it down in September. Following the story of popular high school it-girl Cher, Clueless is all about that redemption arc. Rich, shallow, and a bit too popular for her well-being, Cher takes it upon herself to play "make the unpopular girl, Tia, popular."
Well, that backfires when Tia becomes more popular than Cher. Insert an ex-stepbrother into the equation, and we have a pseudo-Cruel Intentions.
The Lake House
Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock bring a bit of fantasy into the romantic drama The Lake House. Following Alex Wyle, an architect living at the house in 2004, and Dr. Kate Forster, who is living in the house in 2006, the story quickly shifts as the two realize they can communicate via letters.
They talk for two years in their respective periods. But will they ever meet? There's only one way to find out -- by watching the movie before it's removed from Netflix next month!
Life As We Know It
Holly Berenson and Eric Messer have nothing in common, aside from their love for their little goddaughter, Sophie. Then, when the two suddenly become Sophie's guardians, they have to learn how to live and work together with their new roles.
But, juggling social commitments, careers, and a baby isn't easy. Life as We Know It is a rom-com like you've never seen before! And you're going to want to see it before you no longer have the option!
Observe And Report
Starring Seth Rogen as mall cop Ronnie Barnhardt, Observe and Report is a dark comedy that should be on your list of things to watch before the end of the month. After a flasher strikes the Forest Ridge Mall where Ronnie works, the mall cop brings it upon himself to take the man down.
Of course, he has reasons for doing so, like impressing the pretty girl who also works in the mall, Brandi. Do you think he'll bring the flasher to justice and win the girl?
Public Enemies
Johnny Depp stars in the Depression-era based crime drama Public Enemies. Bank robber John Dillinger is pretty much the prince of the underworld, with his charm and charisma. But it's those traits that make him the first-ever Public Enemy Number One to the newly-established FBI.
With Melvin Purvis assigned to the case, Dillinger is to be be brought in either dead or alive. If you enjoy crime dramas that will leave you on the edge of your seat, look no further than Public Enemies.
Valentine's Day
Even if the Hallmark holiday isn't around the corner, there's always time for a little feel-good rom-com. Valentine's Day revolves around a group of people living in Los Angeles in a series of interconnected stories.
As the day unfolds, viewers watch as the characters experience first dates, new and long-time-coming commitments, crushes, and even some rekindled romances. One thing's for certain, though, they all experience the highs and lows a single day can bring.
School Daze
Cheesy '80s movie lovers, you're not going to want to miss out on watching the comedy musical School Daze before Netflix removes it from its catalog. Set at the historically black Mission College, the film follows three guys as they try to navigate school.
On one side, we see Dap, an activist who dives into the political-sphere of the college. Then there's Julian, the head of the biggest fraternity on campus. And then last but not least, Half-Pint, Dap's cousin who isn't sure what he should be doing. Trust us when we say this is a must-see.
Murder Party
With 100 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, the horror-comedy Murder Party is something you're going to have to watch to believe for yourself. After finding an invitation to a Halloween party lying on the street, Christopher decides he deserves a night of fun, so he attends.
Little did does he know, but Christopher walks into a trap. The "party" is actually an art project for some deranged art students who intend on murdering Christopher to impress their sinister patron, Alexander. Yea, we told you you're going to have to watch this to believe it.
One Day
July 15, 1988, is the beginning of a 20-year friendship for Dexter and Emma. After graduating from college, the two classmates make a pact to meet-up every year on the 15th of July. On that day, they discuss their dreams, ambitions, and what they're looking for in life.
