Kim Jong Un is a huge basketball fan and he loves the Chicago Bulls. In 2013, he invited Dennis Rodman to North Korea’s capital, Pyongyang. The NBA star, three Harlem Globetrotters, and some reporters made the trip there together. Rodman was photographed hugging the dictator and told him, “You have a friend for life.”

Rodman visited the country several more times, and at one point appeared to bow to him from the basketball court after singing “Happy Birthday” to the leader. The athlete is just one of a handful of westerners who have met Kim, who has a tense and hostile relationship with the United States.
