Matthew McConaughey Stood By Lance Armstrong After His Doping Scandal

After Lance Armstrong was exposed in a doping scandal, he was stripped of his seven Tour De France titles and his cycling career was ruined. Most of his celebrity pals abandoned him. But actor Matthew McConaughey stuck by his side. “He told a lie, he’s not a liar,” the actor told Details magazine in 2013.

“When it came out, I took it personally, but then I realized it ain’t personal to him. I was going, ‘That son of a bitch!’ but then I thought, ‘Well, what was he supposed to do? Call me to the side and go, ‘Hey, I did this’?” The two are still friends and were recently photographed at the World Golf Championships.
